Medway Road II

A complete refurbishment and extension of a Victorian terraced house in the Medway Conservation Area, currently under construction and due for completion in November 2026.

The project includes a new side return and rear extension, first-floor extension and extensive internal reconfiguration. The new shell is now complete, with the skylight installed, while the existing house has been fully refurbished with new double-glazed sash windows throughout.

The ground floor has been opened up to improve the relationship between the kitchen, dining and living spaces, with new glazing bringing daylight deeper into the plan and strengthening the connection to the garden. The project is now in Stage 5, with the current focus on fitting out the kitchen and bathrooms and completing the internal finishes.

Alongside the architectural interventions, the project has involved detailed coordination of structure, drainage, building services, bespoke joinery, lighting, finishes and heating throughout the house. Existing elements have been retained and repaired where appropriate, while new additions are designed to sit comfortably within the original fabric rather than compete with it.

The project has required close coordination through planning, party wall matters, building control and construction, balancing the constraints of a conservation-area property with the practical requirements of a contemporary family home.
