In collaboration with WHAT_architecture, this project explores the interior garden not as a decorative amenity, but as the central structuring device of the home. Set within a modest 180 m² footprint, the architectural concept is driven by a single ambition: to maximise the role of the garden within daily life.
The design pushes the boundary of indoor-outdoor integration by enlarging the patio to a scale that redefines it as a room in its own right: a green void that breathes life into the interior. A generous aperture blurs the threshold between the living room and the garden, creating a fluid continuum between space, light, and air.
The entire floor plan follows a strip logic: a ‘service strip’ for vertical and horizontal circulation, and a ‘living strip’ that seamlessly links the kitchen, living room, and patio into one open, interconnected volume. This spatial rhythm allows moments of connection and retreat to coexist creating a house that lives and breathes in step with its inhabitants.
By treating the garden as a primary architectural element, Belgetage reclaims domestic green space as a vital source of health, calm, and joy.
